Paul was born in Sydney and has been involved in the "Music
Industry" for nearly 30 years. As a professional Trumpet player,
over that time, he has performed with all the major Orchestras in
Australia and New Zealand. This has presented a wealth of opportunities
in a variety of fields. Over his career, Paul has performed in a
wide range of styles and repertoire ranging from Concert Stage,
Opera and Ballet performances to Musical Theatre and Stage Shows.
Paul has lived in Melbourne since 1991 and is currently a member
of the Trumpet Section of "Orchestra Victoria". As well
as a busy performing schedule, Paul is actively involved in music
education and is "Lecturer of Trumpet" at both Melbourne
University and Victorian College of the Arts.
Paul has been a member of MAGA for over 20 years. He first came
to "music preparation" when, as the Orchestral Librarian
for Auckland Symphonia (where he also held the position of Principal
Trumpet), he was required to replace missing parts by hand copying.
Upon returning to Australia he continued his interest in copying
and was immediately in demand by many leading arrangers and composers.
One such recent project was collaboration and coordination with
noted Australian composer, Richard Mills, on his award winning and
highly acclaimed opera Batavia.
In recent years Paul has been exploring and developing the range
of exciting possibilities offered by modern computer technology.
The use of these new tools has given new flexibility in the professional
and artistic presentation of the printed music score.
